The short story: I’m a 22-year-old food lover, college student, daughter, sister, future wife, exerciser, and avid reader who’s attempting to write my first blog and find balance in my life. I love rainy days, getting old-fashioned mail, singing for no reason, traveling to new places and above all spending time with my friends and family. I’m learning to embrace the chaos (or as I’ve subtitled my blog, “life outside the lines”). Thanks for stopping by!

The long story: Hi, I’m Paige. I am 22 years old and a senior at the University of North Dakota majoring in communication and honors. I grew up in Beulah, North Dakota—a small town in the western corner of the state. I have amazing parents. And while I realize that I’m biased I do think they’re the best. My mom is a middle school principal and besides being one of the hardest working women I know, she is also one of the most caring and thoughtful. My dad is a high school guidance counselor and cross country coach who is the best listener I’ve ever met and always there to support me, along with a witty comment to make me giggle.

I’m the older of two girls. My sister (Lauren) is not only a great sister but really and truly my best friend. I’m recently engaged to Clint, a man who makes me happier and laugh more than I ever thought possible. I’m so excited to start our life together! Between college courses, working on a senior thesis, and planning a wedding for this summer I sometimes feel like I’m losing my mind. I find peace in two of my favorite pastimes, reading and baking.

I started this blog because it was a mandatory class assignment for my Honors Web 2.0 class. But if I’m being completely honest, I have to admit that I’m looking forward to it. I’ve always wanted to journal but never seem to find the time and/or the discipline to sit and actually write out my thoughts at the end of the day. Using a digital format might make the process easier. Through my blog I hope to share some of my passions with readers and make connections and learn from those with similar interests. Or those who just happen to stop by and want to say hello J

Story behind the blog: Growing up one of my all-time favorite stories was Harold and the Purple Crayon. This classic book follows a young boy (Harold) who has the power to create a world of his own, simply by drawing it with (you guessed it) his trusty purple crayon. Harold wants to go for a walk in the moonlight, but there is no moon, so he draws one. He has nowhere to walk, so he draws a path. He has many adventures looking for his room, but, in the end, he draws his own house and bed and goes to sleep.
